Uralita Group relies on automation

There is an increasing level of automation in materials-handling systems today, greatly improving the efficiency and profitability of the processes. Additionally, the usability demand of the systems has risen; and needs to be safe and explicit for the users. The automatic Done PallMaster palletizing system, transfers, stacks, wraps, labels and palletizes goods. Throughout the logistics chain, the handling and controlling of a larger quantity of goods is now fast and faultless. Done Logistics has supplied a palletizing system for handling insulation panels, to St. Avold’s plant, in France. The factory belongs to the Spanish company, Uralita Group. This is the fifth special palletizing system delivered to Uralita Group, by Done Logistics. Over the course of several projects, Uralita Group and Done Logistics have continuously been developing the system. Through this, they have found the most suitable handling-methods for insulation materials, while minimising the wrapping and palletizing costs.

New in 2005

The most recent development has been the creation of a fully-automatic piece of equipment, used for cutting the bottom beams for pallets. This unit is has been integrated into the total palletizing system and helped reduce the palletizing costs to an even lower level. The projects have been exceptionally challenging, due to the large sizes of the pallets used for delivery. In the new process, the products are palletized and wrapped into packages, which can be up to four times larger than standard-sized pallets. Done Logistics specializes in pallet-solutions that require more demand than usual. It also has been able to solve problems with its unique and specially-structured equipment and automation.

Mr. Carsten Effler, the managing investor for the XPS projects of URSA, has been more than happy with the start-up of the latest line at St. Avold, in October, 2005. For the first time, the fully-automatic system in France includes the complete palletizing process for URSA XPS. This means that URSA only has to feed XPS panels and wrapping-film into the system and then pick up the finished, wrapped pallet—which is now ready for warehousing and shipping.

According to Mr. Effler’s experiences, the system has been continuously developed in cooperation with DONE and URSA. In meeting after meeting, URSA explained their needs and wishes in greater details. With this information, along with innovations contributed by DONE, each system was then created. The result is a highly effective, highly complex system, prepared for 24 hours of use.
The co-operation with Done Logistics has been great. In pre-project meetings, the solutions were discussed clearly. During acceptance tests preformed at DONE, the final assembly plans were agreed upon.

URSA is highly satisfied with the ways of commissioning. DONE has supplied all the materials needed for assembly and has been working extremely well, independently.
