Megatrends

What could be more intriguing than the future! While we make assumptions about it, there is so much we can not yet know. The uncertainties lying ahead can be partially alleviated through analyse of so-called megatrends. Megatrends are “tidal waves” of development that will underpin forthcoming changes and phenomena, and will affect future developments.

Some of the most significant future megatrends that will affect us include an ageing population and diminishing workforce, the globalization of operations in a shrinking world, the realignment of the world’s economy towards the new, developing economies, threats to the environment, the price and availability of raw materials and energy, ongoing technology development and breakthroughs, and increasing uncertainty and unexpected risk factors in general.

How then will companies survive in the business environment of the future? Among the many opportunities for embracing the future, four key issues emerge:

  • globalization,

  • company growth with service and product development to meet customer requirements,

  • increasing resources and continuous personnel training, and

  • utilizing the new opportunities offered by technology.

In other words, nothing that is completely new or unexpected!

Growth and development demand a future-orientated approach to operations, innovation, courage, solid expertise and the ability to take risks. Such characteristics should be apparent both on the personal level and the organizational level, where all that can be digitalized will be digitalized, where the logistics breakthrough has created global distribution channels, where the release and transfer of three billion people into the market economy is revolutionizing markets and competition, and where mobile technology and the Internet are eliminating the distinction between local and international. In short – people, products and information will move freely and ever more rapidly than before.

We at Done Logistics intend to meet these challenges through our customer relations. We recognize that growth in our customers’ business operations will increase demand for our core expertise. Our strengths lie in the technological advances achieved by us in selected intralogistics sectors and our ability to reach targets through efficient system management and projects.

During the current financial year, almost 80% of our turnover has been export-based and clearly indicate the effects of globalization. According to published data, our volume of business is growing to the extent that turnover has almost doubled and profits have more than doubled when compared to the same period last year. Over the past three years, the labour force has increased almost by half, efficiency has more than doubled, and quality recruitment has been focused on planning, sales and export personnel. We are contributing to technological developments through our own systems development program, by funding professorships in intelligent technology and intralogistics, and by globally monitoring and utilizing new products developed by leading component suppliers in our field.

It is from this background and with these resources that Done Logistics will proactively embrace the megatrends of the future and develop in harmony with them.

May I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy Intralogistic New Year!
