Equipment of Reel Handling Systems

Done conveyors and other equipment are part of the Done ReelMaster reel handling concept that offers packaging and handling solutions both for heavy master reels and for slit reels. The weights of the reels vary from 100 kg to 5000 kg. 

Lamella Conveyors and Turntables for Horizontal Reels
The reels are rolled or lifted onto the conveyor in horizontal position. The forklift and other traffic is not limited in the factory area, which is a big  advantage of these conveyors. The forklift truck can drive over the lamella conveyors and turntables, while they are stopped. The overgoing rollers support the reel when it is crossing from one conveyor to the next one. The course of the reel is changed with a turntable. Lamella conveyors move in both directions. Lamella conveyors can also be above the floor. 
  
Lamella Conveyors for Vertical Reels
The equipment transfers the reels smoothly from one process to another. The equipment can be above the floor and the reels are lifted onto the conveyor in vertical position.The course of the reel is changed e.g. with Done’s eccentric reel turning solution.
 
  
Wrapping Machines
Careful wrapping of the reels reduces costly damages and supports the finishing process of the reel. Reels can be wrapped in film or in kraft paper.
Wrapping in Film
The automatic wrapping machine can wrap the reel all around the reel and protect them from dirt and humidity.
Wrapping in Kraft Paper
If more protection is needed, the reel
can be wrapped e.g. as spiral in kraft paper.  Video
  
Upenders
Reels up to 5000 kg can be tilted to horizontal or vertical position for further handling with an Upender. The equipment is easy to connect with different conveyor lines. The structure is robust and the movements are smooth.  
  

Lifter for Roll Products
Heavy loads, such as reels or pallets, can be lifted or lowered e.g. between different floor levels with a reel lifter. Done reel lifter has a robust structure and it is easy to combine with various conveyor lines. Video

  
Transfer Wagons
Transfer wagons remove or transfer the reels between the operations. Transfer wagons move on rails and with special arrangements also crosswise the rails.The transfer wagon cover can be equipped with different reel receivers, tighnteners or pushers. 

 
  
Reel Palletizing
Done offers a layer palletizing system or a palletizing robot for palletizing of master or slit reels. The reels can be palletized in horizontal or vertical position. Empty pallets as well as the protection sheets are conveyed from the dispensers by a manipulator. This guarantees continuous material flow and efficient operations. Video   
 
  

Labeling
The automatically printed labels are attached on the reels or on the pallets with a label applicator or with a labeling robot. When needed the label check-reading can be done with the same equipment. The data exchange with the customer control system is an an essential part of labeling. The labeling meets the standards of industry and trade. Video

 

Weighing
In case information of the reel weight is needed e.g. for internal purposes or for the end customer’s needs. In such cases the weighing equipment can be added to the total system.
 

PLC Control System
Done uses mainly Siemens S7 PLC systems for machine control and total system control. A significant part of our control system is the modern bus technology such as Profinet and other equipment, for example sensors, barcode scanners and weighing units which can be connected to the bus.

For visualization Done uses InTouch and WinCC interface programs. Remote connection allows 24/7 PLC support services for the system. With safety PLC, the necessary safety equipment can be reliably connected, utilizing bus techniques, into the overall control system. Typical safety devices are safety light curtains, safety edges and safety scanners. When needed Done can use its PLC system to make connections with customer’s different control systems.
